Lib Dem gain from Conservative and for the voters of Ryedale, a case of deja vu, as that's exactly what happened in the 1986 by-election. Then the Liberals got a majority of just 100, similar figure expected this time

There's no evidence to suppose the Lib Dems are about to take this seat. Their time came and went in the mid-80's. Rural North Yorkshire is solidly Tory these days.
