| Labour will hold easily, if BEast goes tory then they will win the GE easily. It was last won by tories in 1987, and since then has had two Labour wards added, one (St George West) about the safest in the city. |

| Pretty safe Labour stuff now--and redistribution helps--but Bristol E is haunted in Labour lore as the place where Tony Benn met his electoral comeuppance in '83. (Corston trounced Benn's successor, Jonathan Sayeed, in '92; Sayeed's since decamped for the safe Tory electoral wilds of Mid Bedfordshire.) |
