With a 5,000 majority and a good showing in the European elections, Tim Collins will be hoping that concerns about foot and mouth/farming will work in his favour to increase his majority this time. He should be reasonably safe but is still vulnerable to a big tactical voting push by the Lib Dems, although somehow this looks unlikely.
22/05/01 Alastair Matlock Email:
Westmorland and Lonsdale is another constituency of great natural beauty. The largest lake in the UK, Windemere, is located here. This is a rare safe Tory seat in the north of England. Conservative Hold.
