| This consists of two towns, Kirkby and Maghull. The former is a council-estate overspill town which is very deprived, the latter a middle-class 'dormitory suburb' which votes LibDem locally and probably leans Tory nationally. Northern
Ireland Minister George Howarth will win a 20,000+ majority. However, the Labour majority should progressively fall at subsequent elections; Labour-dominated Kirkby is losing population while Maghull is growing. |
