| This seat is rock solid for Chris Mullin, a former radical who has learned to love New Labour. The only excitement here will be the race to be first constituency to declare a result - Sunderland South was the first one out of the bag in 1992 and 1997. Last time the returning officer got all his votes counted in 47 minutes, and with a predicted low turnout might do it even quicker this time. |
