| Another three-way contest and one which really could go either way with all three parties over 30%. Labour are keen to win the seat but, to be honest, they have probably peaked here now and they are more likely to fall back down to something similar to the 1992 level. This could benefit the Tories or the Lib Dems and we have yet to see who will be the eventual winner ... |

| Labour have peaked. Recent resignation of Labour Council Group Leader as parliamentary candidate has sunk them. Two horse race between Tory and Bob Russell, but Bob has a high profile as hard working local MP. |

| Bob Russell is never out of the local news and does a good job for thee area. The only reason you here about Labour is because of the "news" surrounding the resignation of their candidate. Bob Russell is local, supports the Colchester United and has worked hard for the area. I actually think he has helped put Colchester on the map recently. I think he will win, with te Labour vote falling back somewhat. |
